Uzbekistan is a landlocked country in Asia, bordered by Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan. Uzbekistan gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and is currently a republic, led by President Islom Karimov and Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The capital of Uzbekistan is Tashkent.
