The Republic of Vanuatu is state comprised of about 82 islands, located in the South Pacific Ocean. In the 1800s, the country’s 12,000 square kilometers became the target of both French and British colonial interests; it was not until 1980 and the Coconut War that Vanuatu achieved full independence. Vanuatu is a parliamentary republic, currently under Prime Minister Joe Natuman. It’s main industries are tourism, agriculture, cattle raising, and finance.
