RHSMUN Conference

The motto of the International Model United Nations Association (IMUNA), our parent organization, is "Education through Simulation." At RHSMUN we believe in doing all we can to give everyone involved in Model United Nations a fun and extraordinary educational opportunity.

Our all volunteer staff is drawn from schools around the country who work year round training, writing topic guides, and attending MUN events to ensure that the conference in December is a top quality experience. All of our senior staff are drawn from veteran MUN participants and both our directors and assistant directors are trained extensively in rules of parliamentary procedure, the topic areas for the committees, and in working with delegates of all levels. The effort taken into making our conference one of the best is well illustrated by the approachability of all our staff and the extensive materials they have prepared for this conference, like the committee topic booklets which are independently written and researched by each committee's staff.

We also understand that each MUN program is different, with delegates of varying skill levels and interests. To accommodate, our conference boasts a variety of committees for delegates of every skill level as well as preferences in topic type and committee size. Specialized committees such as The Conference on Disarmament, The Counter-Terrorism Committee, and the Security Council, give experienced delegates somewhere to work in smaller more intimate committees with other veteran delegates while larger traditional committees like the General Assembly give new delegates an open hands on learning atmosphere to learn the basics of MUN by immersion. Within each committee, we also try to give the topics of interest as much variety as we can, from security issues to economic issues, to humanitarian issues and others that arise as needed.

RHSMUN is based in Salt Lake City out of the Sheraton Hotel. Accommodations are provided for delegates and staff in same hotel as the conference is held, which is both safe and convenient for delegates and advisers. Our staff enforces an appropriate curfew, monitoring the halls of the hotel at all hours. The Sheraton also provides a wonderful gateway to downtown Salt Lake City with a variety of places to eat and visitors activity within a short walking distance. There are also other unique attractions to Utah in the winter that the Sheraton provide such as accommodations three days before and after the conference as well as ski packages at discounted rates.

Ultimately our conference provides a challenging, safe, and fun educational environment for students of any skill level. Our 2010 Director-General, Cassandra Wich, (dg@rhsmun.org) would be happy to answer any questions in regards to the substantive program. Our 2010 Secretary-General, Aaron Bothner (sg@rhsmun.org) is happy to answer any questions in regards to the logistical program.

We hope to see you in December!
