 Registering
With our new website comes a new registration process that will allow you to pay online via credit card or by the traditional method of mailing your checks to the Secretary-General. You can also choose to pay a deposit (50%) on your delegate fees or pay the fees in full up front. Registering for SUSMUN is fairly simple because there is only one fee – the Delegate Participation Fee. The registration interface operates like most other online “shopping carts” where you purchase a given quantity of product(s). In this case the products will be delegate participation fees. Basic instructions for SUSMUN Registration are below.

Before you register online:

  •  Determine how many delegates your school will bring to SUSMUN
  •  Decide whether your school will pay with a deposit or pay in full upon registering
  •  Determine if your school would rather pay online with a credit card or mail a check

When completing the online registration:

1. Visit http://imuna.org
2. Select SUSMUN in the right corner.
3. Select SUSMUN Registration in the left corner.
4. Choose to sign up via: a) Deposit or b) Pay in Full.
5. In the Shopping Cart:
a. Quantity for “SUSMUN 2012 School Participation Fee” is 1 for all attendees
b. Quantity for “SUSMUN 2012 Delegate Participation Fee” is based on the number of delegates planning to attend the conference
6. Select Update Cart if the quantity has been adjusted.
7. Select Checkout.
8. Complete the Checkout form with your preferred contact email address. You may choose to pay: a) via Paypal after submitting your order, b) via check or money order by mail, or c) with a credit card.
9. Select Review Order.
10. You may now complete your order. Registration for SUSMUN is now complete. We look forward to working with you!

Selecting Countries

The SUSMUN country matrix is likely different than most other MUN country matrices you have encountered. Because our committees fall into different Tier Levels and, given the varied sizes and experience levels of our schools, the SUSMUN matrix is deliberately versatile.

Committees are listed across the top of the matrix according to Tier Level. Delegates should be registered for committees in the tier level commensurate with their experience. If a student wishes to participate in a committee more advanced than his/her experience level, this is left to the discretion of the Faculty Advisor and Secretary-General; however, a student who has moderate MUN experience should not participate on the Beginner tier.

Listed to the left of the matrix are all of the countries in the United Nations. If a country is available in a SUSMUN Committee, there will be a “1” in the corresponding cell. Not all committees have the same number of available countries and not all committees are single delegation (SpecPol is a double delegation committee, meaning that two delegates will work together to represent each country). Countries represented in the Expert Committees are listed directly below each committee.

Although the size of SUSMUN does not allow every country to be represented on every committee, we have selected countries that represent all major regional blocs in attempt to preserve diversity and quality debate even in smaller committees. It is likely that different schools will represent the same country across multiple Tier Levels. Schools that have delegates in all Tier Levels are the only ones that will represent the same country across all committees.

When requesting countries please consider these general questions:

  • How many delegates will my team have?
  • How many delegates fit into each Tier Level?
  • Which committees align with the interests of my delegates?
  • What resources are available for researching each country?
  • How do these countries relate to the committee topics?

What goes into the cost?

Because IMUNA is a non-profit organization we are required to spend the money that we earn. As you will see below, all of the money collected for delegate fees goes directly toward ensuring the highest quality conference - there is no hidden agenda or private fund.

     • Staff – SUSMUN prides itself on having the best-trained conference staff possible. We spend considerable time fielding applications from university students across the country in order to identify the most qualified and dedicated staffers. At the end of the summer we bring the SUSMUN staff together for a weeklong training event where they learn the essentials of conducting a quality conference. Additionally, we hold training sessions in the days prior to the conference. Delegate fees help pay for the transportation, lodging, and materials for staffers during these training events.

     • Facilities – Emory University and the Emory Conference Center Hotel have some of the finest facilities in the southeast. We use your delegate fees to rent meeting space, provide conference programming, and utilize technical support for each committee room.

     • Materials – Behind the substantive program lies the crucial logistical and administrative conference needs. Printers, paper, gavels, placards, conference programs, and everything in between are necessary for running a high-quality Model UN conference. Because we are not sponsored directly by any university, we do not receive university funding, and thus must supply all of our own materials.
