Mongolia, located in Northern Asia, is landlocked bordering Russia on the North and China on the east, west, and south. Mongolia received independence on July 11, 1921 from China, making July 11th an annual national holiday. The government of Mongolia is parliamentary with a civil law system influenced by Soviet and Romano-Germanic legal systems and a constitution granting universal suffrage to all citizens over the age of 18. Its latest constitution was adopted in 1992 and was amended in 1999, 2001, and 2011.
